Summer Reading is NOT Over Yet!

I’m not ready for summer to be over and guess what? It’s NOT! We are only in the beginning-ish of August and there is still plenty of time to tackle your summer reading bucketlist. Please don’t even mention the word September because that means colder temps, jackets and back to school: classes, homework, assigned readings, more homework and just being busy in general. I remember those days when there was no time to pick up a book of MY choice. Why not reclaim what’s left of your summer by laying around with an ahhh-mazing book chosen by YOU (while you still can!)?

Here are a few titles that made it on my lazy days reading list:

We Were Liars           Tell the Wolves I'm Home           Dorothy Must Die

Five Ways to Fall         Listen to the Squawking Chicken               We'll Always Have Summer

If summer isn’t over then that means Word Out! isn’t over too! There are still plenty of contests happening and cool prizes to be won. Next week we will be giving out the last card in the Collector Card Contest. Stop by the library to pick it up and you will finally see the full picture! Use the image as inspiration to create something of your choice and then submit it for a chance to win an iPad mini. Simple!

BUT WAIT! There’s more….

All summer long Barbara Frum YAG members have been talking about books, reading, authors and more online using the summer reading hashtag they created #FrumSaysWordOut. Join the discussion by posting about the great and not-so-great books you read. We will end off with a Word Out Wrap-Up Party on August 28 with games, photo booth fun, food, prizes and more! Please RSVP by August 25 at 416-395-5440.

Last but not least, one of our talented librarians created an awesome display for Word Out and obviously we just had to enter it into this year’s Duelling Displays Challenge! Unlike the other creative displays we are up against, we had to make use of the limited space we had available. I think we did a pretty fantastic job so please vote for us!!

  1. I thought Tell the Wolves I’m Home was one of the best books I have read this year.
Now I have to try your other suggestions…
