Small-business-monthOctober brings around Thanksgiving and Halloween, but for us working in the business department, October means getting down to business – small business that is.  If you are a small business person or if you are thinking about starting a small business, this month offers a wide variety of programs and conferences for you to either decide to make the leap to begin a business or to update your skills.

Check out some of these events and resources:

Whitchurch Stouffville Unconference.  Celebrate the beginning of Small Business Week, with a conference of like minded individuals coming together to share ideas and knowledge.  Monday October 15, 2012.

CanadaOne, a great source for all things small business, runs an events calendar.  Check out events around the GTA and beyond.

BDC Small Business Week offers articles and an events calendar of BDC sponsored events by province.

Enterprise Toronto's Small Business Forum gives you a chance to check out exhibitor booths of businesses and organizations that supply support and services to small business.  There is an official program as well, with other sessions.   Come visit us at the Toronto Public Library booth (#417), where staff from both the Toronto Reference Library and North York Central business departments will answer your business related questions.  Tuesday October 16, 2012.

Branches of the Toronto Public Library will be offering programs geared to topics of interest to small business throughout the fall.  Check out some of these events.  For the first year, the library will be hosting an Entrepreneur in Residence, who will be viewing business proposals and giving presentations at the Toronto Reference Library and North York Central Library.

Come visit your local branch and discover the wealth of resources available to small business!
