Digital Literacy Day at Agincourt Branch
Digital Literacy Day is May 31. As part of this special day, Agincourt branch is hosting a variety of events to engage and encourage all customers from different interests and skill levels.
The Adobe Creative Suite is one of the most powerful and popular set of applications that have ever been offered. If you're interested in photo editing, creating a logo/flyer or composing a song or film, then this suite is for you. As part of this great day, Agincourt staff have created a useful class, Intro to Adobe Creative Suite, to showcase some of the common tools in each of the following applications:
Photoshop – Photo enhancement and editing
Illustrator – create logos and draw designs
InDesign – create works such as posters, flyers, brochures and more
Premiere – create and edit a video project
If you’ve heard of Adobe before, but never understood what application does what, come in and check out what the Adobe Creative Suite can do for you.
If you can’t make it on Digital Literacy Day, feel free to learn and explore these awesome programs by swinging by a Digital Innovation Hub, checking out Lynda.com tutorials or taking a class with us. Some of the classes are one-time learning opportunities and some are multi-part classes where you can learn and develop from class to class.
Another interesting and hands-on workshop is the Tetra Ryerson: Exoskeleton Workshop. Attendees learn how to build their own robotic exoskeleton and find out about the history and importance of robotic exoskeletons, current technology, how they are built, as well as their various applications. They will be able to simultaneously apply this knowledge while building an actual robotic exoskeleton consisting of 3D printed parts, motors, sensors and other equipment. By the end of the workshop, participants will gain an understanding of Arduino programming, 3D-part design, physical disabilities, biomedical signals, and video-game rehabilitation.
Presented by Tetra Ryerson, a student run group that works with the North American Society of Tetra. This workshop is sponsored by Ryerson University Library & Archives in celebration of Digital Literacy Day.
Digital Literacy Day should be a great day. We hope to see you.
Have fun!!
Greg
