LinkedIn For Professionals or Wannabe’s

I asked a recruiter friend about tips for job searchers. Her first suggestion – LinkedIn. I was checking out QuintCareers and Randall Hansen says that if you are a professional or want to be, you must have a profile on LinkedIn.

You probably have found LinkedIn profiles when searching on Google. Here are a few examples:

More tips for LinkedIn:

  • Keywords are important. Choose appropriate words for your profession or industry.
  • Fill out your entire profile, including the summary section.
  • Import all your addresses from Outlook, GMail, etc.
  • Put your picture on your profile – same one you use for Twitter
  • Join groups where you can make a contribution
  • Be sure to list any volunteer or non-paid projects related to your field that you participate in
  • Update your status and your profile at least every 3 months.
  • Ask and answer questions
  • Link to your employer, blog and other projects of interest
