Library Resources for Job Searching
If you're looking for a job, Toronto Public Library, and in particular the Toronto Reference Library, has many resources to help you in your search, including job hunting resources, company and industry information, as well as interview materials.
Regular Print Books:
You can find more of these books in the Career Collection at the Toronto Reference Library. Most of the books in this collection, unlike the majority of the books at TRL, can be signed out with an active library card.
eBooks:
You will find many more eBooks on topics of interest in Safari Tech and Business Books Online. If, for example, you enter "job hunting" as keywords in the search box for the entire site (found in the upper right-hand corner of the main page), you will get over 4,000 results! Many of these are actually chapters within books, which is one of the wonderful aspects of using online resources.
Research Guides:
Business Directories: City of Toronto and Area
Researching a Canadian Company
Researching a Canadian Industry
Programs or Classes:
You might want to start by coming to one of the upcoming free library workshops, Are you Looking for Job?, in Learning Centre 1 at the Toronto Reference Library from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m on Saturday, November 21, 2015, or Saturday, February 13, 2016. Online registration is required for this class, as space is limited. Registration opened October 24 for the first date, and opens January 16, 2016 for the second one. If you haven't been able to get in, please come and consult with staff in the Business, Science and Technology Department, 3rd floor, Toronto Reference Library. They can help get you started.
Other branches of Toronto Public Library also offer free library programs to help you with your Career and Job Search.
