Planning to take the IELTS exam?
If you want to apply for a college or university in Canada, or to get a licence for your profession, you might need to take a standard test, such as IELTS. Immigration Canada also recognizes IELTS test results for immigration applications.
Toronto Public Library offers books, CDs, DVDs and online practice tests to help you prepare for the IELTS exam.
Try the new Road to IELTS Academic database. It can be accessed from the library or from home. Simply go to TPL website and type "IELTS" in the search box. Then click on the "Road to IELTS" icon and login with your library card to start using the database. It is free and available 24/7. You can choose from 12 theme units to practice reading, writing, listening, speaking and vocabulary.
You will also find many IELTS preparation materials in the library catalogue such as the ones below. Borrow a copy at your local library, place a hold with your library card or use a reference copy at the audio language lab on the 5th floor of Toronto Reference Library.
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System, designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication.
