Toronto Public Library (TPL) is proud to announce the launch of Your Health Matters, an initiative that features book collections, programs and partnerships meant to empower Torontonians to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

“With health misinformation on the rise, access to accurate and reliable health information has never been more important,” said Pam Ryan, Director, Service Development & Innovation. “Libraries play a critical role in providing equitable access to information, and through Your Health Matters, TPL can support Torontonians navigating health topics ranging from mental and physical health for adults and teens to self-esteem and emotional intelligence for children.”

The initiative features a curated and inclusive non-fiction adult and teens book collection selected in consultation with Toronto Public Health, along with a children’s fiction collection selected by TPL librarians. It also offers expert-led programs delivered in partnership with community health organizations and hospitals, like Women’s College Hospital.

“Toronto Public Health is proud to work with Toronto Public Library on Your Health Matters,” said Dr. Michelle Murti, Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health. “Many health issues can be prevented or addressed when people have access to accurate health information. These resources teach children and adults about health in ways that are clear and easy to understand. By connecting Torontonians to free, trusted, and reliable resources, Your Health Matters can help support healthier communities across the city.”

A selection of titles is available to borrow across all 100 branches, while the full adult, teen and children’s collections are available online and on featured displays in 19 branches. Year-round programs, offered in partnership with health professionals and organizations, will explore a wide range of topics. More books, programs and resources will be added over time to ensure Your Health Matters continues to grow with community needs.

Your Health Matters was generously seeded by Blue Lupin through the Toronto Public Library Foundation.
