Renovation & Service Update – September 19, 2013

August 23, 2013 | Karolina | Comments (0)

Renovations are gearing up at the Toronto Reference Library.  Recarpeting is taking place from the third to the fifth floors.  While the study pods on the third floor are almost ready, key elements like the Learning Theatre and the Computer Hub are still to come. Demolition has started on the 4th floor in order to begin construction of the study pods for this floor.

Construction in the Marilyn & Charles Baillie Special Collections Centre is in its final phase.  Still to be completed are fixtures, furnishings and finishing trims.  The frames for the specially designed concrete tables for the rotunda are in place and the tables will be ready in a couple of weeks.  You can see a photo of the table frames in their final configuration below.

There will continue to be some service
disruptions due to the construction:

For the week of September 23:

5th floor: the information desk will be temporarily
relocated near the stairs. Collections and listening stations are being
moved and there may be temporary disruptions to the service during the
week.  Please ask staff for assistance.  Public washrooms on this floor are closed but
are available on all other floors.

4th floor: there will be a limited number of computers due to recarpeting.  Computers are available on all other floors.  Listening stations will be relocated along the atrium wall.

The Arthur Conan Doyle Room
on the 5th floor is temporarily closed. However, the collection is
still accessible in the Baldwin Room in Special Collections on the 4th
floor.
