Agincourt Library Writing Group
On October 21st, Agincourt Library held its first meeting of its newly-formed Writing Group, a program geared towards those in the community who are interested in creative writing. Each month, group members will meet to share their work, offer feedback, and discuss various types of writing and techniques.
I'm happy to say that the first meeting was a success, not to mention a blast–it's such a delight to meet with other individuals who share an interest in so many different forms of writing, from short stories, to poetry, to memoirs, to screenwriting. There's a lot of varying experience, ambition and opinion coming together in one place, so future meetings are bound to be interesting and exciting. This week we took the time to introduce ourselves, talk about the kinds of writing we're interested in doing, and what we'd like to improve. We also talked a bit about some different writing techniques, as well as how to give effective feedback.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday, November 18th (the third Thursday of each month!). For those who are interested in getting involved, please feel free to visit the library for more information! Space is limited, but we will be maintaining a waiting list in the event that a space opens up in the future. More updates to come soon, but in the meantime, I've got a lot of reading (and writing!) to catch up on!
