Bronte re-mix

I fell in love with Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights when I read them in high school, and have re-read them many more times since then.

Here's a guest post from Cristina, a fellow Bronte fan, about some updated versions:

If you are interested in classic literature, or are
long-time fan of the Bronte sisters, then you should definitely pick up April
Lindner’s books Jane and Catherine. These modern retellings of Charlotte
Bronte’s Jane Eyre and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights would be a great
way to become familiar with the classic stories.

While these novels try to stay true to the original versions
with the main character in Jane becoming a nanny and starting a relationship
with her troubled employer and Catherine mirroring Wuthering Heights with
two narrators and stories being told years apart, they are also quite different
from their classical counterparts.

What April Lindner’s books lack in powerful, poetic prose,
they make up with mystery and intrigue. They provide a way for the classics to
be introduced to a new generation. Like the classic versions, they focus on the
female protagonist who has to overcome many difficulties while finding their
place in the world and someone to love.

Thanks, Cristina!  I'm looking forward to reading these updated versions, which are also available as eBooks through Overdrive.
