March Break – fun times for all!
Thanks to Katherine for this update from Bridlewood Branch!
There were crafts that got kids making and games that got them shaking. Songs that had them toe-tapping and stories that got them hand-clapping. Add in some tricks that amazed and had some eyebrows raised and you get one pretty full week of March Break Fun at Bridlewood Branch.
We started by saying “Pirates Ho!” as we learned how to talk, act, sing, and dance like swashbuckling buccaneers. The next day we bounced like bunnies and created a beautiful bunny bookmark.
The unexpected snowy weather meant that we unfortunately had to cancel our scheduled “Arm’s Length Puppets” Puppet Show but bad news turned to good when staff put on an unexpected “Maker Program”. Kids used their imaginations to create all kinds of space inspired objects including a paper plane-boat that could really fly!
The week continued as we took some canoe rides “Down by the Bay”. The kids helped to perform a puppet show based on the book One-Dog Canoe by Mary Cassanova and then came up with new rhymes and verses for the popular song about “where the watermelons grow”.
Our week of March Break Fun had a magical ending thanks to our friends at Steeles Branch who invited their special guest to Bridlewood as they are closed for renovation. Mysterion amazed kids and adults alike with his mind reading tips and tricks.
One week and a hundred different ways to have fun…that was March Break at Bridlewood Branch this year!
