Indoor Games for Kids
When the weather isn’t co-operating, why not play a game or two….
Animal cards: You will need two players for this game, index cards and crayons or markers. The object of the game is to encourage your child to draw the head of the animal on the top card, and the legs and feet on the bottom card. Get the kids to create as many animals they can'think of. Once the animals are created, mix the cards and try to match as many correct pairs as possible. The winner of the game is the player with the most cards that are matched up.
Bingo: Bingo is always a classic board game. Players need to cover the squares on their sheet. The row needs to be covered horizontally, vertically or diagonally. You can also make the game more challenging by covering the the entire bingo game card. The winner of the game also yells out, BINGO!
Board Games: Checkers, Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble
Charades: Act out a “character” until you guess the right answer. You will need two teams of at least two people on each team
Duck, Duck, Goose: Object of the game: When the person who is “It” goes around in a circle saying “duck, duck…But when the “It” person says “Goose” then the person who is tagged “Goose” has to run the opposite direction of the person who is “It”. There can only be one person to sit in the existing empty spot.
Flashcards:Object of the game is to get kids to identify the different items on the cards. You can challenge them by timing how long it takes to identify items within 2 minutes. The player with the most cards wins.
Hang Man: Object of the game is to figure out what the blank letters spell out. Unfortunately, if anyone guesses an incorrect letter, than a (stick) body part is added each time a letter is guessed inaccurately.
