Customer Appreciation – A Testimonial

Agincourt Staff at TPL Giving DayThere are many reasons local residents visit their local branch on a regular basis. From picking up books and accessing information to attending a computer training class, participating in Book-a-Librarian, attending a monthly small business networking meeting or a Tea & Books session. Or maybe customers have no specific reason to visit but just drop by, read a newspaper and be part of our community.

What makes Agincourt Branch a special place for our local community? I believe it is our value of serving everyone with respect and our appreciation of diversity – valuing individual needs, experiences and differences.

Mr. Chander Issar - one of AG supporters Mr. Chander Mohan Issar, 76 years of age, has been coming to Agincourt Branch since moving to Canada in 2011. "Everything is so different," said Mr. Issar, explaining that it was difficult to adapt to his new country. He told us that this "unbelonging" feeling quickly went away after his son introduced him to Agincourt Branch. Since then, he has been coming regularly to borrow books, from fiction for leisure reading to books that support his desire for lifelong learning. He said the library is very important to him, that when he reads, he increases his knowledge and deepens his memories.

"Life can be negative but books are always positive," Mr. Issar said. He added that while "friends can betray you, books are always loyal."

On the 100 Reasons to Check Out TPL Giving Day on June 2, Mr. Issar visited Agincourt and donated to support TPL. He said "I don't have much to give but whatever I can, I donate."

There is no donation too big or too small, if you wish to donate and support Toronto Public Library, please check out ways to give.
