School is officially out and summer is in full swing! Now is the perfect time to look back on a successful, fun and creative year of after school clubs at Agincourt Branch. Our after school clubs are for kids aged 7-12 and are designed to promote a love of learning, engage creative minds and foster innovation!

Library Club met on Tuesdays from 4-5pm. Here, we learned about all sorts of fun facts based on different subject areas of the library. We did science experiments, magic tricks, wrote poetry, told jokes and riddles, and wrote, produced, and acted out a puppet play. We also had a battle of the books, where each week two books fought it out, but only one was declared a winner!

On Thursdays from 4-5pm we rotated a Building Club and Console Gaming Club. Each week at Building Club, kids were given a challenge to make something out of Lego, K'nex or other materials. Console games were very popular at the Gaming club, with everyone getting active and moving with Just Dance on the xBox 360. This fall, look for our new after school Tech Club to start up in October!

Fridays from 4-5pm at Agincourt Branch, we started our very own hands-on Maker Club to explore science, technology, arts, and crafts. Each week participants made something from scratch that they could take away with them at the end of the meeting. We made duct tape pouches and bookmarks, jewelry, fancy paper airplanes, salt-dough creations, picture frames, pet rocks and stop motion Lego animation movies! Phew. It was loads of fun.

Our after school clubs are taking a break for the summer, but will be back in full swing starting in September. Call Agincourt Branch children's dept. at 416-396-8952 for more information on these exciting programs!
