Toronto Public Library Celebrates Canada 150
Canada’s sesquicentennial is just around the corner, and Toronto Public Library has a feast of programming to help you celebrate our 150th anniversary. Whatever your interest, the Library has something for you and your family.
Destination Canada is an exhibition which tells the immigrant experience in Canada, from the earliest days of settlement, to our most recent newcomers. The exhibit, in the TD Gallery on the first floor of the Toronto Reference Library, runs though July 30th.
For those whose interests lean toward recreation, now is your chance to learn how to get down and dirty in Canada’s national parks. Learn how to pitch a tent, cook over an open fire, and recognize a wolf howl. Sponsored by Parks Canada, Learn to Camp sessions are offered in over 60 of our branches.
Or delve into history with 150 sTOries, a website which features 150 fascinating stories of Canada, with a uniquely Toronto perspective. Learn how national events such as Confederation Day, 1867, the end of the Great War were marked in Canada. Find out about famous (and wacky) Canadian inventions that got their start in Toronto. From Honest Ed’s to Hockey, and the Famous Five to the Group of Seven, read all 150 sTOries.

Check out all of the programming on offer at the Toronto Public Library, and keep coming back as we continue to launch new programs.
