Summer reading can be a guilty pleasure

Insatiable” by Meg Cabot, of “Princess Diaries” fame, has turned out to be
my favourite secret read this summer… so far.  Insatiable is not literary
or not even erotic, as the cover seems to imply, it’s a great big fun read.

The story meets all my requirement of pure escape – quick paced plot,
likeable characters and funny!  It’s also part of the new genre of mash-up
fiction.  This time a modern version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula!

Insatiable Insatiable is the name of TV soap opera and our heroine, Meena, writes the dialogue.  She seems a pretty normal late 20s something living in New York except for the fact that has a psychic ability that allows her to tell when people [humans] are going to die.

Naturally, Meena's talent makes relationships difficult and hardly anyone believes her predictions, that is, until she meets a guy whose death she can’t foresee! In fact, he just happens to be the extremely handsome, smart and rich son of Dracula whose goal for the last few centuries has been to keep his fellow vamps from killing humans. He sounds perfect…   almost.

Insatiable is sort of a Shopaholic meets Twilight meets True Blood. Add it to your summer reading list before the movie comes out!
