Scotiabank Giller Prize Longlist Announced
On Monday, the longlist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize was announced. Considered the most prestigious of the Canadian literary awards, the prize was first presented in 1994. Two short story collections Light Lifting by Alexander MacLeod and This Cake is for the Party by Sarah Selecky have been nominated.. Although nominated for the Man Booker Prize, Room by Canadian novelist Emma Donoghue has not been included on this list.

Player One: what is to become of us by Douglas Coupland
Sanctuary Line by Jane Urquhart
The Sentimentalists by Johanna Skibsrud
This Cake is for the Party by Sarah Selecky
The shortlist will be announced on October 5 and the winner will be announced at a gala on November 9.
