Rohinton Mistry Nominated for Man Booker International Prize
Canadian author Rohinton Mistry is one of thirteen finalists for the prestigious Man Booker International prize. Presented every two years, the award honours a writer's lifetime contribution to fiction.
This year the award is not without controversy. Another finalist, John le Carré respectfully requested that his name be withdrawn from contention because he does not compete for literary awards. Rick Gekoski, chairman for the judging panel, expressed disappointment with le Carré's request but is not complying with it. Le Carré, whose novels have reshaped the spy genre, will remain a candidate for the prize.
