The shortlist for the 2011 Prometheus Award for best novel includes Canadian writer Cory Doctorow.  A winner in 2009 for his novel Little Brother, Doctorow is one of five finalists for the science fiction award. Doctorow's For the Win is a young adult novel set in a future where the distinction between the online gaming world and reality is becoming blurred.

The Prometheus Awards were founded in 1979 by writer L. Neil Smith to celebrate fiction "that explores the possibilities of a free future, champions human rights, dramatizes the perennial conflict between individuals and coercive governments, or critiques the tragic consequences of abuse of power–especially by the State".  Since 1982, they have been sponsored by the Libertarian Futurist Society

Titles on the shortlist are:

Ceres by L. Neil Smith

Darkship Thieves by Sarah A. Hoyt

For the Win by Cory Doctorow

The Last Trumpet Project by Kevin MacArdry

Live Free or Die by John Ringo
