The Restoration of Emily by Kim Moritsugu
Emily is a middle-aged architect who restores historic houses in Toronto. She is also the single mother to 14 year old Jesse. A loner, Emily finds it difficult to relate to people around her and is happy to keep away from all but the most basic social activities. Emily is cranky but content, having structured a carefully organized, compartmentalized life for herself. Suddenly her life is thrown off balance as she realizes that her son is growing up and away from her. Her aging body, challenges at work and the unexpected romantic attentions of a younger man complicate her normally structured world.
