The Longlist for the 2012 Scotiabank Giller Prize was announced on September 4, 2012. These 13 titles were selected from a total of 142 books submitted. The shortlist will be announced on October 1, 2012 and the winner on October 30, 2012.

A great list…. I want to read everyone of these titles!
What did they do, shortlist every book published for the year? Doesn’t look like a very hard list to get onto.
It’s a longlist.
The jury selected 13 titles out of 142 books, put forward by 51 publishers, from every region of Canada. There were actually over 200 books of fiction eligible but each publisher is only allowed to submit THREE titles.
