Far to go 210Pavel and Anneliese Bauer live a comfortable life in
Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia with their young son Pepik and his nanny Marta. Secular
Jews, the Bauers own a garment factory and live a peaceful, comfortable life. The
patriotic Pavel is stunned when Nazi propaganda begins to influence his
neighbours, friends and colleagues and his world begins to crumble around him.
The situation in Sudetenland disintegrates as the Nazis take control and the
family flees to Prague but discover that it may not provide the security they
seek. Desperate Pavel and Anneliese make the heartbreaking decision to send
their son to England via Kindertransport.

 The story of
the Bauer family is told from multiple perspectives including Marta, Pepik’s
governess who must watch as the family she loves is torn apart.
