Hilary Mantel Wins Man Booker Prize
This year's Man Booker Prize has been won by Hilary Mantel for Bring Up the Bodies. The book novel is a sequel to Wolf Hall, which won'the award in 2009.
The Man Booker Prize was established in 1968 and is considered one of the most prestigious literary awards. Three Canadian writers have been winners in the past. The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje won in 1992, followed by Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin in 2000 and Life of Pi by Yann Martel in 2002. Although it did not win, Who Do You Think You Are? (published in the UK as The Beggar Maid) by Canadian Alice Munro remains the only collection of short stories to have been a finalist for the prize.

Isn’t she the first author to win it twice?
She’s the fourth writer to win the prize twice but the first woman. The other double winners are J.G. Farrell who won in 1970 and 1972, J.M. Coetzee a winner in 1983 and 1999 and Peter Carey in 1988 and 2001.
