The Passage

It makes an apocalyptic sort of sense that the books I most enjoyed in 2012 are about the end of the world – it's a tie between World War Z (zombie apocalypse documented in a series of harrowing interviews, coming soon to a theatre near you but probably in a mutilated form, so read the book instead) and The Passage (government experiments with a vampire bat virus go horribly wrong).

Likeness

The Likeness by Tana French
It is a psychological suspense that is set in Ireland. The main character is a female detective whose past undercover work comes back to haunt her. In this fast read, the author effectively blurs the lines between fact and fiction.
