Once again, books have provided inspiration for many of the films scheduled to be released this fall. If you are looking for something to read during your summer vacation, have a look at this quite varied list of fiction and nonfiction that have been made into movies coming to theatres soon.

While not directly based on Krakauer's book, the upcoming movie Everest describes the same events that took place on Mt. Everest in May 1996. After Krakauer began his descent after reaching the summit of Mt. Everest, he passes twenty other climbers who are still pushing their way to the top. When an unexpected snowstorm began to ravage the mountain, Krakauer barely made it back to his tent. Sadly, not all of his fellow climbers were so lucky.  A fascinating story.
