Recently widowed Harriet Chance takes the Alaskan cruise that her late husband had planned before his death. Their children, however, are concerned about Harriet’s health. Their mother is 79 after all and she’s begun seeing things that aren’t there–Bernard, her deceased husband for example. Harriet, however, takes stock of her life and realizes this might be the last chance she has to take this sort of trip. She plans to scatter Bernard’s ashes and move on with her life. Instead a letter awaits her on board, revealing that Harriet may not have been Bernard’s intended cabin mate. Instead of moving on with her life, Harriet spends the cruise revisiting the decisions she made that had a lasting impact on her life and slowly coming to terms with mistakes she’s made.
