2018 Scotiabank Giller Shortlist Announced
The finalists for this year's Scotiabank Giller Prize were announced on October 1, 2018. At the announcement Elana Rabinovich, executive director of the prize called the selection "distinctive books that deserve to be read and read widely". Five novels books have been nominated for this year's 2018 The Scotiabank Giller Prize is one of Canada's most prestigious literary prizes. The winning author receives a cash prize of $100,000; $10,000 is given to the remaining authors on the shortlist.

Motherhood by Sheila Heti
An Ocean of Minutes by Thea Lim
Songs for the Cold of Heart by Eric Dupont, translated by Peter McCambridge
Washington Black by Esi Edugyen
The winner will be announced at a gala on November 19. The event will be broadcast live on the CBC and various social media channels.
