Desmond Cole wins Toronto Book Award
The Skin We're In: A Year of Black Resistance and Power by Desmond Cole
Desmond Cole has won'this year's Toronto Book Award with The Skin We're In: A Year of Black Resistance and Power. In it Cole documents his experiences as a Black Canadian in 2017 and the fight for Black liberation. He told the Toronto Star, "I wrote this book, first and foremost, for Black people because I just wanted our experiences reflected honestly back to us in a mainstream nonfiction book, which doesn’t happen very often in Canada."
