Literary Legend Eric Jerome Dickey (1961-2021)
The literary world has lost yet another brilliant author: Eric Jerome Dickey.
Mr. Dickey passed on January 3, 2021 in Los Angeles at the age of 59 due to cancer. He is survived by his four daughters.
Eric Jerome Dickey was a well-known author and a fan favourite to the Black community. In his work, he crafted enticing, plot-twisted stories that focused on Black life from a variety of perspectives. The way in which his words moved through the pages left readers mesmerized, and his book would flow like a high-grossing box office movie. Dickey wrote over 29 books that have sold more than 7 million copies. His books focused on creating a world of Black characters, and stories that did not hold the context of slavery or civil rights. In fact, his writing career took off in 1996 with his first book, Sister, Sister, where he painted with words to capture sisterhood among Black women.
Eric Jerome Dickey was a man of many talents. He initially earned a degree in Computer System Technology at the University of Memphis and went on to work as a software developer in the aerospace industry. Dickey also tried his hand at acting and stand-up comedy before he found his love for writing. Along with the success of his first novel, Dickey wrote poetry and short stories. He also found time to work on a screenplay for the 1998 movie Cappuccino, which premiered at the Pan African Folk Festival. Not to mention he also wrote a comic mini-series starring X-Men's Storm and Black Panther.
Dickey blessed the world with an array of works and breathed life into a creative cast of characters that many would find enjoyable.
He will be missed.

Did not even realize this occurred.. Rest In Peace to a revered author. I remember seeing his books whenever visiting the library as a teen. Milk in my coffee was also a great title! Would have never known about his passing if I didn’t come across this post. Hopefully more awareness is brought forward!
