I Just Finished Reading…Top Picks for November

December 8, 2017 | Chantel | Comments (0)

I know, it is December – but I promise that these books WERE read in November. That just means you can look forward to two posts this month! Hopefully I can recommend some fun reads to get you all through the long (soon to be snowy) nights.

Most People

Most People

By Michael Lennah

Ages 5 – 7

This book reminds us that "most people" are like you and me. We are good people – we smile and laugh, dance and play, and help when we can. Yes, there are some bad people, but there aren't that many. In fact there are so few they could "crowd together in a gloomy room" and fit. Also, sometimes bad people can change their ways and even say sorry.

Where Oliver Fits

 Where Oliver Fits

 By Cale Atkinson

Ages 3 – 7

Have you ever felt like you just don't fit in…anywhere? Oliver sure has. All the other puzzle pieces seem to have found their perfect fit, but poor Oliver is having some trouble. He wants "to be part of something exciting, something wild, something out of this world!" And he tries his best to change himself so he can fit in, but it does not feel right. This book introduces young readers to peer pressure, self esteem and the satisfaction of being yourself – because, eventually, we all find our perfect fit!

A Boy, a Mouse, and a Spider

 A Boy, a Mouse, and a Spider : The Story of E. B. White

By Barbara Herkert

Ages 6 – 9

This book is perfect for Elwyn Brooks White (E. B. White) fans! Elwyn loves the farms animals (more than he loves school) and finds it hard to leave them behind. But at school, Elwyn discovers a passion for writing. He is a natural storyteller and eventually writes  Stuart Little and Charlotte's Web - two classic children's books.
