Here's a glimpse at what Toronto Public Library staff are reading this week:

Yoojin, Fort York Branch:
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng This book kicks off with the mysterious death of Lydia, a sixteen-year-old girl growing up in the suburbs of Ohio in the late 1970s, but there is much more to it than just suspense. Celeste Ng paints an intricate and nuanced portrait of a dysfunctional interracial family, laden with racism, sexism, unfulfilled dreams and aspirations, and the weight of things left unsaid. A gripping read.

Beth, Collection Development Department:
A Green and Ancient Light by Frederic S. Durbin A young boy sent to live with his granny in the country during wartime helps rescue an enemy pilot suspended by his parachute in the woods behind her home. While there are obvious parallels to Britain during WWII, this story is set in an alternate world with touches of Narnia. A warm and cozy read after the heartbreak of “All the Light We Cannot See”.
