Are you an importer, or thinking about importing into Canada? There is plenty of information out there to help you!

The Canada Border Services Agency's website has a comprehensive section for importers. It includes information on required documents, location of bonded warehouses, international trade agreements, programs such as the Duty Deferred Program, and links to much more.

The Toronto Public Library has directories that can provide you with lists of manufacturers of goods in other countries. Check at the North York Central Library, the Toronto Reference Library, or any of the larger libraries in the system to see what they have to offer.

Another wonderful resource is Kompass, a database of importers, exporters, producers, distributors and suppliers of goods in 65 different countries. Even though It is available only through computers at the Toronto Reference Library and North York Central Library, it is worth the trip. A very valuable resource!

SmallbizXpress is Toronto Public Library's on-line gateway to small business information in Ontario. It includes a  section which will be of interest to importers: International Business Enterprises.

You'll also want to check out an interesting TPL program coming up: Importing Goods Into Canada – An Information Session. This will be offered at TPL's Agincourt Branch Program Room on Tue Aug 30, 2011, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
