Meet-up

Toronto is filled with wonderful creators, entrepreneurs and innovators and we’re showcasing them at the Digital Innovation Hub’s Monthly MeetUp program series.

At each MeetUp, guests hear from a speaker, followed by a live demo (where applicable), audience Q+A, and networking opportunity to chat one-on-one with the speaker or to other audience members.

Each MeetUp focuses on a different aspect of technology and innovation. Past MeetUp topics have included robotics, wearable technology and co-working spaces. Check out photos and recaps from our past MeetUp events below.

In January 2014, Alex Kung from the International R2D2 Builders Group spoke about his experience with building his own Star Wars R2D2 – including a super awesome live demo of his droid creation – and his lessons learned about robotics.

In February 2014, Loretta Faveri, founder of Sonic Wear by SoMo, spoke about her wearable tech creation that allows you to create music through movement. It was beautifully demonstrated with a live performance by Denise Mireau from Studio for Movement.

Innovating in Co-working Spaces (March 2014)

In March 2014, Ashley Proctor spoke about the global co-working movement and creating The Foundery, an open concept, downtown coworking environment that is home to a diverse community of artists, entrepreneurs, innovators & independents.
