Register for New Online Class: Introduction to Python

April 20, 2020 | Ted | Comments (0)

While we all continue to practice physical distancing, I’m pleased to announce that the Digital Innovation Hub and Pop-Up Learning Lab teams are testing out a new way to deliver some of our classes online.

This will be a new way of delivering programs for us, so there may be a few bumps along the way, but we look forward to learning together with our users.

Our first online class is Introduction to Python and will run twice this week. See below for the full class description and links to register. Space is limited but we hope to offer more of these online classes in the near future.

TPL is currently investigating offering other types of online programs while our branches are closed. Stay tuned to our website and online channels for more info!

Introduction to Python

Python is an open source programming language that is used to create web applications, web content, mathematics and system scripting.

In this workshop, you will learn how python code works and get time to practice. Prior coding knowledge is not necessary for this introductory class.

Key takeaways include a working knowledge of variables, loops, conditional arguments and more.

This class is for beginners but assumes you have a basic understanding of computer skills. If you can use a word processor or browse the web, you can learn Python!

How to register and prepare for the class

The program takes place on Jitsi, a free and open source web-based video conferencing application. Prior to the class, participants will need to download and install Python on their personal computers.

Specific instructions including information about software installation will be sent to registrants one day prior to the class.

Register now for Introduction to Python on Wednesday, April 22, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
