When Disaster Strikes! |

Again disaster has struck! Sadly natural disasters are occurring more often around the world. A tsunami in the Indian Ocean in 2004 killed over 200,000 people while Hurricane Katrina in 2005 killed at least 1,800 people. The latest earthquake disaster in Haiti has left many thousands dead and injured.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a document about immediate public health risks from wounds and injuries, water, sanitation and foodborne diseases, and diseases associated with crowding. The Public Health Agency of Canada has produced an Emergency Preparedness Guide. Use this guide to plan for an emergency for a minimum of 72 hours.
