Healthy Foods and Supplements for Hair, Skin, and Nails

Woman_fruitA new year means a beautiful new you, right? I thought so. It does for me!

One of my resolutions for 2013 is to eat healthier, and this goes for not just my internal body, but outside as well. As long as we eat the right foods, or add the best supplements to to our diets, we can have the hair, skin, and nails of our dreams!, courtesy of marilyn.ca.

 

Let's start with Hair:

  • protein is very important for hair (eat Halibut, eggs, mung beans)
  • minerals are needed (consume sea veggies like nori, dulse, and Schinoussa Sea Vegetables)
  • Silica is a needed mineral for hair (have onions, garlic and cucumbers)
  • Stinging nettle tea is great for growing back hair, reducing gray, and restoring colour
  • cranberry juice improves kidney health

And now Nails:

  • protein again
  • Zinc for nail growth (eat pumpkin seeds)
  • Iron keeps nails healthy and strong (consume sesame seeds)
  • Biotin has been said to improve nail quality (eat Swiss chard)
  • Essential fats are said to nourish weak nails, make them strong and firm

Last, but not least: Glowing Skin:

  • B vitamins, especially B2 (ribofavin) are needed for glowing skin
  • vitamin A to reverse sun damage and help new skin cells form (pumpkin, squash)
  • Vitamin E & Biotin helps prevent, treat wrinkles (eat avocados)
  • Vitamin C helps regenerate skin cells (eat broccoli, kiwi)
  • drink plenty of water a day (around 8 glasses)
  • try to reduce too much sodium
