Green Careers
Worldwide environmental consciousness has created a growing demand for green jobs. According to Eco Canada, the environment industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of the Canadian economy. A recent National Post article states that "while Canada's unemployment rate is high, demand for workers with skill and experience in the green sector remains strong." Trent University's Environmental and Resource Science/Studies Program offers several degrees in both environmental studies and environmental science that can provide the skill set needed to work in the environmental sector.
Eco Canada writes that the top 5 green careers in the country today are:
- The Environmental Engineer "The Green Designer"
- Environmental Technologists/Technician "The Green Performer"
- Conservation Biologist "The Green Protector"
- Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst "The Green Tracker"
