Serious job-seekers or eager employees will delve into magazines or other information resources to research companies that they have interviews with, or to improve their knowledge about the industry that they work in. While many people  can simply pick up a copy of the local newspaper or search an electronic newspaper or magazine database, those people who are ultra-serious will look at industry magazines.

Today the spotlight is on Dominion Bond Rating Service. This subscription database is a recognized, international rating agency, providing rating opinions to the world’s capital markets. Privately owned and independent, DBRS offers in-depth credit analysis of corporate, financial institutions and government issues in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. DBRS rates about 1000 different companies, providing readers with in-depth company reports, industry studies, commentaries, press releases, commentaries, and peer group assessments.

You can access information quickly by clicking on any hyperlink under the different categories or the items in the task bar, or by entering information in the search options. Many of the results are in pdf format and can be printed or downloaded.

This database is available only at the Toronto Reference Library, so if you visit  that library, the librarians there (Go to the Business, Science and Technology Centre, 3^rd floor.) will demonstrate the best way to search this database.
