Interested in becoming a Security Guard or Security Officer? Security guards work in a variety of places. Many work in museums, airports, office buildings, factories, libraries, hotels, prisons, banks, etc. They ensure the safety of people and property and report any unusual activity to their employers.
Recent changes to the legislation governing the private security industry took effect April 15, 2010. All new applicants must now take a training course and pass the ministry test prior to applying for a security guard and / or investigatory license. This ministry test ensures that security guards and private investigators have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their job. For more information about the training and testing requirements, see Frequently Asked Questions.
Or contact the Private Security and Investigative Services Branch.
