The Elevator Speech

Have you ever been asked what you do for a living? I often get asked this when I meet new people. (I must have a sign on my forehead that says, "Ask me what I do for a living – go ahead, I dare you!)

So I started thinking of an elevator speech and did some research on sample speeches. Thought about it some more and came to the conclusion that this is a way for you to discover who you are and what you want, and is a great conversation starter.

Ask yourself:

  1. who are you
  2. what do you do
  3. why are you the best
  4.  what is your call to action

 Here's a sample speech:

"I am a business expert specializing in helping companies and individuals market themselves more effectively. I am most proud of the $5.5 million deal I closed from a cold call. In addition, [name of a renowned person] was my client in [year]. And I once built a 4-foot tall pyramid and shipped it to [name of another renowned person's] country house. "

Think of the reaction you would get to this speech! Intrigued? Here are some resources to get you started!
