Skills That Will Get You Hired
It is no surprise that there are a limited number of jobs and a lot of job-seekers in this world. Do you ever wonder how to stand out from the crowd? Do you wonder what the type of skills are that employers are actually looking for? An article posted by Workopolis, lists some of the most sought after skills as being:
1. bilingualism
2. food preparation
3. quality assurance and
4. software development.
It is beneficial to consider lists like this when thinking about starting a second career or on what to study after high school because it allows you the best possible chance for obtaining a job. And more often than not, they are skills that you may not have thought of!
If you're curious as to what type of jobs these skills may lead to, the library offers free access, using your library card, to an amazing resource called Career Cruising. It acts as a one-stop shop for anything you would pretty much want to know about a profession such as salary, workplace environment, education requirements, core tasks and much more. It is truly one of my favourite databases. If you're thinking of heading back to school to upgrade your skills, it also lists what programs each University and College in Canada offers. I highly recommend that you check it out!The Toronto Public Library also offers an entire list of recommended websites, generated by Business Librarians, to help you with anything and everything career-related. The menu on the left-hand side will help you narrow down your search. There are categories such as job postings, job searching tips, training and qualifications, and so much more.
