Spotlight-sophies-studio Does your child like to write? You'll be excited about these creative writing workshops for older children offered at select library branches across the city this fall. There are seven Sophie's Studio Workshop series (four weeks each), facilitated by a variety of artists, including Anna Humphrey, Frida Wishinsky, Megan Crewe and Mahtab Narsimhan, focusing on movie writing, book writing, fragmented fairy tales and more. The first series started fully booked last night at the Woodside Square Branch, with Joel A. Sutherland helping kids become writing superstars. Read full details about all workshops here and contact the branch to register. Space is limited.

Be sure to check out the recommended reading for children in support of Sophie's Studio Workshops. Books are by participating authors and about drawing and writing.

Sophie’s Studio is generously supported by the Toronto Public Library Foundation and a bequest from long-time library lover Sophia Lucyk. It was created to support literacy, creativity and writing skills in children from a young age.

  1. Thank you for highlighting this program and highlighting this recommended reading list. It looks like another great program provided by the TPL! Encouraging children to write is a great way to make them avid reads! Thanks again-
