Ways to Raise a Reader

Here are some great tips from www.tdsummerreadingclub.ca to help you raise a reader!
Keep reading fun.
Let your child pick what to read. Comics count too!
Read anywhere, any time and anything.
Find things to read at the store, on the street or in the playground!
Be a family of readers.
Read together and read aloud. Show that reading is important to you.
Start young.
It’s never too early to read with your child.
Explore formats.
There are lots of ways to read. Check out audio, large print, e-text and braille books too.
Use your local library.
Start by signing your child up for the TD Summer Reading Club in 2014! If your child has a learning, physical or visual disability and doesn’t read print, talk to Library staff about formats like audio books and ask for an accessible TD Summer Reading Club kit.
