Happy Birthday Robert Munsch
Robert Munsch is turning 70 today. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Canada as an adult. He had studied to be a Jesuit priest but "went astray" when he discovered how much he loved doing children's work. He started in orphanages and came to Canada getting a job at a daycare in Guelph. A natural storyteller, he was encouraged to start writing his spontaneous, engaging and kind of crazy stories down. He has since written dozens.
There is plenty of information about Robert (or "Bob" as he calls himself) on his web site and also such a massive trove from the CBC, that I'm going to just throw in the sponge as far as adding anything new except to mention one thing that you might not know: the characters in his stories are
usually based on kids he meets in real life.
Now I'll just share my favourite Munsch story which is Put Me in a Book!
In this story, a girl named Hailey agrees to be "put in a book" (and has some trouble getting herself out again).
What's your favourite Robert Munsch book, or alternately, what Robert Munsch book would you like to be put in?

First Happy Birthday Robert Munsch!!
You’ve brought so much joy and happiness into the lives of my children, nieces, nephews, and countless others. It’s become a habit to gift children at their first birthday with several of your books. Then at ages four or five one or two of your hard cover collections. #Priceless Each time the child is rather gobsmacked!
I then get the honour of reading one or more of your stories each visit for a long long time. I LOVE it!
Thanks Mr. Robert M.
Happy Birthday Mr. Munsch
I have read your books to children of all ages. I have to say that one of my favourites is definitely Mud Puddle. I love Jule Ann’s tenacity.
