Ode to Gordon Korman
Today is a day that calls for much celebration
The day that brought us a Canadian sensation
For today is the birthday of one Gordon Korman
An author for children…for women…and for men.
My childhood favourite who’s still writing now
So many books that I just don’t know how
He keeps up with demand from fans such as me
With new stories to tell—such di-ver-sity!
It began with two kids called Bruno & Boots…
No…make that three kids, for if we look at his roots
We see that he wrote MacDonald Hall #1
When he was in Seventh Grade and still very young.
Hijinks and capers that keep us all laughing…
At MacDonald Hall who knew what was happening!
From warring with Wizzle to outsmarting “The Fish”
Now Hollywood is calling so we fans get our wish.
And just look where he’s gone from where he began
The plotlines he writes run an interesting span
From swindles to spies and now hypnotists
The books Korman writes form some interesting lists.
When it comes to adventures, he is no stranger
For often he writes escapades fraught with danger.
Kidnapped, Titanic and the Dive trilogies
Everest and Island…series written in threes.
Why he even writes books in “The 39 Clues”
A series that has more than an author or two.
One with more than just books for there’s missions aplenty.
Korman’s written five books but there’s well over twenty!
So many books from Gordon Korman the great
That of course we took time to stop and celebrate
With these verses of questionable rhythm and rhyme…
(Hey at least in this poem a dog didn’t die!)
Happy Birthday Gordon Korman!
