Great Reads for Kids

Do you have an avid reader in your home who is always searching for their next great read?
Or is your child a reluctant reader that you need to cajole to read with you, meaning you are always on the prowl for terrific and interesting books that will grab your child's imagination?
Whichever it is, or all of the possibilities in-between, we have a fantastic new resource for you and your family – announcing Great Reads for Kids, a Family Resource with recommended reading for children six to 12 years old.
Toronto Public Library and Kumon Math and Reading Centres have partnered to produce a booklet of Great Reads for Kids. The books highlighted in this resource have been carefully selected by a team of Toronto Public Library children's staff and features over 200 books in categories ranging from picture books to novels to non-fiction and everything in-between. These are books guaranteed to produce chills and laughs. Books that will inspire. Books that will take children on fantastic journeys. Books that will help children discover new worlds and new perspectives. Most importantly, these are titles that will help encourage a lifelong love of reading.
Included in the booklet are some tips for paren'ts and caregivers about how to support your child's reading journey, why you should continue read aloud with your child and how to easily design a reading home. Be sure to pick up your free copy of Great Reads for Kids at your local branch of Toronto Public Library. And as always, children's staff would be more than happy to help you find even more books your child would be interested in, or suggest similar reads once you have found books that your child loves.
