With the start of the school year fast approaching for most Toronto children, it is time to think about getting back to our regular schedules. Re-establishing bedtime routines is one of the most important things families can do to get ready to go back to school. Having said that, there is still some time left to let kids go a little WILD this summer…even at bedtime:

By Kim Dean

Ages 4 – 7

Even the grooviest of cats needs some shut-eye at the end of a busy day but Pete's friends aren't ready for the fun to end. Gus, Alligator and Toad all take turns ignoring the "sleep" part of their sleepover until Pete the Cat comes up with the perfect way to settle everyone down for the night: reading a bedtime story!

(Also available as an eBook and in French (where "Pete the Cat" is known as "Pat le Chat"!)).

Book Cover: The Nuts: Bedtime at the Nut House The Nuts: Bedtime at the Nut House

By Eric Litwin

Ages 3 – 6

Hazel and Wally are two little Nuts who do not want to go to sleep! Each time Mama Nut calls out: "All little Nuts need to go up to bed" her children reply: "We're Nuts! We're Nuts! We're Nuts!" and keep on having fun. So what happens when she has to use her loudest Mama voice to finally get them into bed? Are they still her favourite little Nuts?

(The Nut Family also have their own website where you can listen to this story or play "The Nuts Lullaby" to help your own little one fall asleep.)

By Paul Bright

Ages 3 – 7

If you think the idea of having five little monkeys jumping on your bed is bad, what would you do if a bison, an aardvark, a chipmunk and a beetle were bouncing on it instead? After all, there's always room for one more to have fun…until there's one too many! Add a broken bed and a bad-tempered bear to the mix and you've got one very WILD bedtime indeed.
