Find Happiness, Share Happy – International Day of Happiness
Every March 20th, we celebrate the International Day of Happiness…now and forever. And unlike some of the year's sillier days of celebration ("Napping Day" anyone?), this day has been sanctioned by no less than the United Nations (UN Resolution 66/281: International Day of Happiness) which declared that: “The International Day of Happiness is an annual celebration of happiness as a fundamental human right and goal for all of humanity.”
This year, the theme for the International Day of Happiness is #TenBillionHappy as Happinessday.org sets our sights "on the year 2050, when it is projected that 10 Billion people will inhabit the Earth…Our goal is to inspire, develop, and promote initiatives…to secure Happiness for All™ by 2050." This post is intended to help them to do just that by spreading a little happiness of its own.
Singer, songwriter and author Pharrell Williams is a supporter of this day and all things Happy. In his book (based on the song from "Despicable Me 2"), he helps to spread the message of happiness and, in an ending message to the reader, encourages children to become "Happy Helpers". A Happy Helper, he explains, is someone who does what they can'to bring happiness to someone else's day. (Perhaps I can bring some happiness in to your day by directing you to the official music video for the song "Happy" which features the Minions, who always make me smile! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Sxv-sUYtM.)
