We are dedicated to bringing the best and brightest books to our library collections. Here are some picture books we are really excited about that will be hitting shelves soon or have just arrived.

Eraser

Eraser, by Anna Kang. ill. Christopher Weyant. 2018. Ages 5-8

Poor eraser! She has to clean up Pencil’s mistakes, but never gets any credit.  While Pencil sits with the “cool” school supplies at lunch Eraser is stuck with her only supporters Ruler and Pencil Sharpener.  When the school supplies get together to work on a big science project, tempers flare and Eraser heads out on her own.  Will Pencil be the same without Eraser?  Will Eraser learn to value her own abilities?

Rooster Wore Skinny jeans

Rooster Wore Skinny Jeans, by Jessie Miller, ill. Barbara Bakos. 2018.  Ages 3-6

Who can resist a nice pair of skinny jeans?  Rooster thinks he looks pretty great in his new pants, but the rest of the farmyard animals are less than impressed.  What’s a Rooster to do? Follow his own fabulous sense of style or listen to what everyone else is saying?

I'm Fun Too

I’m Fun, Too! by Jonathan Fenske, 2018.  Ages 3-5

An old fashioned LEGO figure feels plain and boring next to all the newer, flashier and cooler Lego mini-figures.  He’s just no fun.  With the help of some friends, he begins to learn that it’s not how you look on the outside that matters the most.

Super Scarer

Super Scarer by Cale Atkinson, 2018.  Ages 4-8

Meet Sir Simon Spookington, Super Scarer.  This professional ghost has just been transferred to his first house after being stuck haunting bus stops and forests.  Even better, the only occupant of this house is an old lady.  Easy-peasy.  Things get complicated, though, when a kid arrives on the scene who is not so easy to scare!

Good Rosie

Good Rosie! by Kate DiCamillo. ill. Harry Bliss 2018.  Ages 4-8

Rosie loves her owner George.  They take a long walk together every day, but Rosie misses having other dogs to play with and feels lonely.  One day, George takes Rosie to a dog park.  With so many strange dogs around, Rosie feels shy and lonelier than ever!  However huge Maurice and tiny Fifi soon want to play… and brave Rosie saves the day.

Do You Believe in Unicorns

Do You Believe in Unicorns? by Bethanie Deeney Murguia, 2018.  Ages 3-7.

Is that a horse wearing a hat?  Or a unicorn in disguise?  Or is the horse just keeping the sun out of its eyes?  Maybe it’s just having a bad hair day?  How will we find out?  The only way to know for sure is if it takes off the hat.
