Picture Book Preview
We are dedicated to bringing the best and brightest books to our library collections. Here are some picture books we are really excited about that will be hitting shelves soon.

Hi-5

High Five by Adam Rubin, illus. Daniel Salmieri (Ages 5-8).
Young readers are coached on stretches and techniques from a high five expert, just in time to join a contest, challenging various animals with each round sillier than the last. This brightly illustrated, interactive picture book will get kids slap happy to try out their own high five contests.

Dandy by Ame Dyckman, illus. Charles Santoso (Ages 4-8).
When a daddy lion spots a dandelion on his lawn, he prepared to remove it only to find that his daughter has fallen in love with the flower. Kids will laugh out loud at the lengths this father will go to remove the weed without breaking his little girl’s heart.

 

Underwhere

Underwear! by Jennifer Harney (Ages 3-6).
Rhyming word play and bold illustrations tell the story of a bear cub who would rather get creative with his pair of tighty-whities than go to bed. Expect major laughs as the cub wears his underwear as a wig, as a superhero mask and more making this a great read-aloud.

 

Pig Lit

A Piglet Named Mercy by Kate DiCamillo, illus. Chris van Dusen (Ages 3-6).
In this picture book prequel to Mercy Watson’s early reader series, ordinary Mr. and Mrs. Watson find a tiny piglet is delivered to their front door and their lives are changed forever. Previous fans will enjoy Mercy’s origin story and new readers will find this as a great entry point to the chapter book series.

Bookhog
The Book Hog by Greg Pizzoli (Ages 3-6).
The Book Hog loves everything about books and has a giant collection except that he can’t read. Visiting the library, he meets a kind librarian who invites him to story time and inspires him to practice to become a reader. A celebration of books, reading and libraries!
